In the 1950s, Maria fled Communist Hungary for Vienna. Now an obstinately independent old woman living back in Budapest, she has fallen ill, and her daughter Olga has come to care for her. Olga, who has always suspected that her mother's past contains long-buried secrets, begins to piece together their shared hidden history. Aurora Borealis presents a stirring portrait of a woman whose life has been defined by loyalty, sacrifice, and love.
